The co-creator of Call of Duty, the mind behind the globally famous video game Call of Duty, has tragically died in a traffic collision in California he was 55 years old.

His passing was verified by Electronic Arts, the parent company of Respawn Entertainment, a game studio which he helped establish.

The celebrated video game developer died after his car crashed and burst into flames on a motorway in the Los Angeles area on this past Sunday, US media outlets report.

"This represents a devastating loss, and we stand with Vince's loved ones, his family, and the countless individuals inspired by his legacy," an official with Electronic Arts stated.
