Iran Claims Attack on US Base in Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Military Operations.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in response for a "massive" and continuing attack against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area near the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any destruction is unclear and the United States has yet to issue a statement.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - reported they have intercepted missiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was targeting US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on Iran launched by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That US-Israeli operation - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted locations associated with the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump calling on the Iranian people to rise up against the government.
Additional Developments
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates announced that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with notable success and shot down a series of missiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted wreckage landed in a populated district in Abu Dhabi, causing some material damage and killing a civilian.
The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
