Her Royal Highness's Yearly Yuletide Musical Celebration Honours Charity Helpers

Her Royal Highness has organised her customary Yuletide celebration at the historic Abbey, with attendees featuring members of the royal family, famous faces, and community champions who have helped their communities.

The sizable congregation will enjoy a selection of carols, music and readings from stars like award-winning actors.

A Theme of Kindness and Compassion

The focus of the event, held in the glowing Westminster Abbey on the afternoon, is kindness and showing love to others.

Among the guests will be a couple named the Cordiners, whose child passed away from a brain cancer, and who set up a charity, Kayleigh's Wee Stars, to support families who have a child with a terminal illness.

"The time, care and compassion you give, often without fanfare or recognition, and without any expectation or recognition, make an remarkable change to the lives of others," wrote Catherine in a message before the festive gathering.

Carefully Paced Reappearance

The princess has been making her own gradual return to public life following her health challenges and treatment, in November making her major oration since 2023, in which she talked about recognising the "discreet, frequently unseen labour of caregivers".

Musical Talent and Access

Attendees entering the Abbey will be entertained by young musicians backed by the Future Talent organisation, set up with the help of the former royal to increase availability of music lessons.

An 18-year-old named Carys Wood, who performs on the trumpet and is from Wales, has been helped by the trust, with grants helping towards equipment, teaching, and travel fees - and she said it was "awesome" to be performing at the concert.

"Pursuing music is often costly," Carys said. She is now studying at the prestigious music academy, and added that "everyone should have the opportunity" to cultivate their performance abilities.

A Sisterly Duo

Her younger sibling Eliza, aged 11, who performs on the brass instrument, will likewise attend the Abbey. "I never thought I'd be able to play there in front of so many important people," she said.

Within the audience will be representatives of different generations.

That will include nine-year-old Saphia Turner, winner of a youth community award, who creates and sells art and completes fundraising tasks to generate funds for food banks.

Seasonal Ambiance and Entertainment

The Abbey has been festooned with custom-created holiday decorations, with celebrity baker Mary Berry and floral designer Simon Lycett contributing to their design.

Among the musical performers will be recording artist Katie Melua, choristers from Westminster Abbey and a maritime folk band from Cornwall, Fisherman's Friends, who said the opportunity to perform was "the perfect culmination."

The Together at Christmas carol concert will be broadcast on ITV1 on Christmas Eve.
